![]() ![]() ![]() But when I installed Brave, I learned that its VPN and firewall aren't free and require a subscription. One of the reasons I was initially attracted to Opera GX was its built-in VPN, which provided an extra layer of security. Here's my take on the Opera GX vs Brave debate.įirstly, let's talk about the VPN and firewall. ![]() However, recently I decided to give Brave a try and discovered some interesting aspects that made me question my choice. You don't know how browsers work at a basic level, so I'll keep telling you Opera GX is shit.I've been using Opera GX for the past two years, and I must say, I've been drawn to its beautiful design, extensive extension library, and the ability to customize themes. Unlike Apple products, the difference between functionality in the browser market is thin. There is nothing 'streamlined' or 'unique' about it that can provide an advantage over other browsers that have the same strengths. I hate Opera GX because of the naive people it attracts. It's almost a way to make themselves feel special. I put a negative connotation on it because of how these people feel entitled to their identity, and feel the need to use a 'gaming' browser for absolutely no reason but to fit their 'gaming' thematics. Well, what brought you to Opera GX then? Most I see are self-identifying 'gamers', so I see no issue with assuming that you are one. Bandwagoning like Apple users and the 'vibe' of Opera GX are meant to be separate, but linked in a sense that Opera GX users bandwagon for the aesthetics and style. To clarify, I was referring to Opera GX's 'vibe', rather than Apple. The features that make it 'better' are available on competitors, so it's silly to use it as a reason to use the browser. I never said that you used the Apple ecosystem, I said it because the reasons why people use Opera GX are so similar to why people use Apple products. It sounds like you just really hate Opera GX and are struggling to control your emotions about it. That’s a weird thing to bring to this discussion, and I fail to see the relevance and why you put a negative connotation on it. I do spend some of my free time on video games. One update could screw up the ecosystem and it’s unreliable. Of course, you can do this on android/windows too, but it’s not 1st party, and requires a lot of setup between products made my different companies, so mileage varies. The setup to make this work is easy and basically built in. Often I have to text a client too, which is easier to do on my laptop since typing on a keyboard is faster. Like if I’m working on my laptop and get a phone call, I can answer the call on my laptop instead of reaching for my phone. They’re just good quality products and work together well. Not sure what you mean by “for the vibe.” It’s not really about vibe. If you need a lighter browser, that's all you. I'm arguing that honestly, I would never use anything else. You're saying that Opera GX is a shit browser and that people shouldn't use it. It doesn't really matter what your preference of browser is. Not everyone's cup of tea, and easy enough to toggle on/off. You didn't speak anything about workspaces, My Flow, the most recent 3 downloads immediately selectable on upload, and a myriad of other features that are ahead of its time and that no other browser will ever really have like an interactive algorithmic background music composition. Opera's screenshot feature has a bonus of being able to save the whole page as a PDF too. I believe it's Shift+Win+S actually, at least that's what it is by default for me and I haven't changed it. Again, that doesn't mean that GX is a shit browser.ĥ. That doesn't mean GX is a shit browser.ģ. Edge does less, has less features, so yeah. ![]() I guess it depends on what you're playing too but it seems like 16 GB would be enough to game and browse even with a heavier browser. Honestly 16 GB should be plenty for what you're doing. I'm sure microsoft is thrilled to have a customer. ![]()
